Workforce Skills Support is a Site Safety Plus Accredited centre.

The Site Safety Plus course scheme provides the building, civil engineering and allied industries with a range of courses for people seeking to develop skills in this area.

These site safety plus courses are designed to give everyone from operative to senior manager the skills they need to progress through the industry.

Each of these courses is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training required at each level for those working on Build UK sites.​

Workforce Skills Support offers ‘open’ courses: delivered at our training centres on set dates, and attended by a mix of individuals from different companies.

​Workforce Skills Support also offers closed Site Safety Plus courses: available to your employees only, with tailored training to meet your needs, conveniently held at sites of your choice at agreed dates and times up to a maximum of 20 candidates per course.

Achieving Behavioural Change (ABC)

This course is designed to provide delegates with an understanding of how attitude, behaviour, communication and worker engagement at all levels can help prevent the chances of accidents occurring.

Directors Role for Health and Safety

Days1
This one-day interactive course has been designed for company directors with the aim of recognising the human and financial implications of health and safety legislation non-compliance.

Health and Safety Awareness (Site Safety Plus – Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction)

Days1
This one-day course is designed to aid the understanding of potential hazards the construction worker may face on site. It provides a practical summary of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, identifying the delegate’s responsibility for looking after themselves and others; outlining the employer’s duties; and explaining what should be done if the worker thinks that anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk. The course is an ideal foundation for those wishing to obtain an industry accreditation card.  This course is also an alternative route to the QCF Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment for the CSCS Labourer Card. The HSA course provides health and safety awareness and is endorsed by Build UK as standard training for all operatives on site.

Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS)

Days1
This one day interactive course has been developed for site supervisors/managers with the aim of providing candidates with an introduction to environmental issues on construction sites.

SSSTS (Site Safety Plus – Health and Safety in Construction Site Supervision)

This two-day course is intended for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities. It provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will highlight the requirement to promote health and safety to supervise effectively. The SSSTS course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction supervisors.

Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme – Refresher (SSSTS-R)

This course is for you if you have previously passed the Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS – Site Safety Plus – Health and Safety in Construction Site Management)

This course is designed for site managers, agents and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff. The course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce. The SMSTS course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers.

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SMSTS-R Site Safety Plus – Health and Safety in Construction Site Management Refresher)

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme – Refresher (SMSTS-R) course is for delegates who have previously passed the full Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course or subsequent refresher course, and can provide proof of attendance. It aims to bring health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The course includes a wide range of topics, many building on the previous five-day course programme for managers.

Temporary Works Co-ordinator Training Course (TWCTC)

This two day course is designed to assist those on site who have responsibility for managing all forms of temporary works. It is also designed to give confidence to senior management and those who engage with contractors, to reach an assessed standard of knowledge.

Temporary Works ​General Awareness Training Course (TWGATC)

Days1
The Temporary Works General Awareness Training course is designed to provide training for those involved in the temporary works process but who are not undertaking the role of the Temporary Works Co-ordinator or Supervisor. The course is designed for candidates who have limited or no previous knowledge of temporary works.
