CAT and Genny Training Course Aims
This short course addresses both the theory and practical aspects of safely using a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and Signal Generator (Genny). Students will be taught essentials on how to use the equipment before a practical element where they will be shown how to correctly trace and mark underground service lines. Training is delivered in line with HSG 47 for Avoiding Danger from Underground Services.
CAT and Genny Training Course Content
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
Current Legislation & Best Practice (including HSG 47)
- Correct Usage of the CAT & Genny
- Implications of Improper Use
- Utility Plans
- Equipment Features
- Correct Marking of Observations
CAT and Genny Training Training Method
This highly interactive practical and classroom-based training course concludes with practical assessment and theory tests, demonstrating the candidate’s full understanding of the training.
CAT and Genny Certificate Course Duration
Our training course lasts 1 day and all Theory and Practical training elements will be covered in this time. Training can be covered Nationwide.
CAT and Genny Training Certification
NPORS Operator card or In-House Certification
Please note that the maximum number of candidates per training course is 6.
For entrants that wish to apply for the NPORS Traditional Card, there is no requirement to do an NVQ qualification. If the ‘HS&E TESTED Logo’ is required on the card, entrants must ensure they have attended and passed the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment Test within the two years prior to application for the card.
