About this course

This course can be adapted to suit the client’s requirements.
Training can be delivered on site using the client’s training room or at a convenient, suitable location.

Who should attend

This course is suitable for operatives, supervisors and management and will provide the candidate with knowledge about groundworks on construction sites including an insight into Temporary Works Management systems.

Delivery

The Groundworks Training is a classroom or remote course with tutorials and delegate engagement. It also includes a theory-based exercises and exam.

Maximum Numbers : 15 Face to Face (12 Remote)
Duration : 6 -7 Hours (1 Day)

Groundworks Introduction Course Aims

The aim of this course is to provide the necessary training to be able identify the safe working practices and provide the attendees with knowledge about groundworks on construction sites, which covers: ground investigation, site clearance, stabilisation works, site services, and landscaping.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this training, delegates will be able to:
describe types of groundwork activities
types of work activity before and after groundworks
describe roles and responsibilities of groundworkers
describe types of groundworks: plant, machinery, and hand tools
list uses for: plant, machinery, and hand tools
describe hazards, risks, and controls associated with demolition work
describe basic groundworks safe work practices
describe basic emergency response procedures and equipment
describe basic legislation, codes of practice, and/or standards that apply to groundworks, including safety and environment.

The scope of this standard covers:
types of groundwork activities
types of work activity before and after groundworks
roles and responsibilities of groundworkers
types of groundworks: plant, machinery, and hand tools
uses for: plant, machinery, and hand tools
hazards, risks, and controls associated with demolition work
basic groundworks safe work practices
basic emergency response procedures and equipment
main legislation, codes of practice, and/or standards that apply to groundworks, including safety and environment.

Grant: Tier 1 = £60 per person (Lifetime, non-grant renewal)

Please note: There is a cap on how many times an employer can claim a Short duration course achievement grant. The link directs you to the CITB website for information on the amount of claims allowed based on your last levy return.

If a candidate has been paid grant for a particular course in a lifetime, they will not be eligible for grant again for the same course, unless it has specific refresher standards published on the short duration course register.

If refresher course standards do exist for a particular course, then only one refresher is grant eligible in a lifetime for each candidate.
