About The Course

This two-day site supervision safety training scheme (SSSTS) course is designed for those who have, or those about to acquire supervisory responsibilities in the building construction and civil engineering industries.

The course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce.

What is SSSTS?

Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) is a two-day training course designed for site supervisors or those who are about to take on supervisory responsibilities. The course covers the health and safety regulations relevant to the construction industry and helps supervisors to develop their understanding of their legal responsibilities.

Who needs to take the SSSTS course?

Any person who is going to be working as a site supervisor or taking on supervisory responsibilities must be trained to carry out this role and taking the SSSTS course is an essential part of developing competence. This includes supervisors, team leaders, foremen, and anyone who will be overseeing work on a construction site.

How long is the SSSTS course?

The SSSTS course is a two-day course. Each day usually lasts for around 7.5 hours, including breaks.

What does the SSSTS course cover?

The course covers a range of health and safety topics, including legal responsibilities, risk assessments, method statements, working at height, fire safety, and hazardous substances. The course also includes interactive exercises and group discussions.

Is there an exam at the end of the course?

Yes, there is a multiple-choice with short written answer exam at the end of the course. The pass mark for the exam is 80%, and participants will receive a CITB certification upon successful completion of the course.

How long is the SSSTS certificate valid for?

The SSSTS certificate is valid for five years. After five years, site supervisors must retake this course or 1 day refresher to renew their certification.

Is the SSSTS course accredited?

Yes, the SSSTS course is accredited by the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board), which is the leading provider of training and certification for the UK construction industry.

Can the SSSTS course be delivered online?

Yes, the SSSTS course can be delivered online, but it must be delivered by an accredited training provider who has been approved by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). The course is delivered in the same manner as a face-to-face course.

Is there a refresher for the SSSTS course?

Yes, if you have attended a previous 2-day SSSTS Course of Subsequent 1-day refresher course, you will be eligible to attend a 1-day refresher course to renew your certification, you will only be able to attend a refresher course if your current certification hasn’t expired.

Is there any publications that I need to purchase for the course?

All course material will be provided when you have been successfully booked onto the course, this will include the CITB GE706 Construction Site Supervision and GT700 Toolbox Talks, this is included in our course cost.

Grant Claims

The Health and Safety in Construction Site Supervisor course is eligible for a Tier 2 Grant claim, this grant can only be claimed once per candidate per lifetime and the grant does not renew.
